The Real Secret...

...to Building A High-Profit Internet Business

By Jimmy D. Brown

My wife laughs every time she sees me doing it.

At least once or twice every week, I'll be at my desk (or
at the dining room table) with my Franklin Covey planner
open and a stack of laminated checklists in hand.

"What are you doing, honey?" she calls, already knowing
the answer.

"I'm planning", I reply with a smile.

She laughs and I get back to work.

She laughs because she swears I spend half of my time
"planning".  But, if you ask me how I'm able to get as
much work done as I do in only 3 hours a day, I'll point
to a black Franklin Covey planner with about a dozen
laminated checklists inside.

Building an Internet business is easy.  Seriously.  I'm
not saying that it's not complicated, because it is.  I'm
just saying that it's easy to accomplish if you just have
a system in place.

There's very little in this world that can't be
accomplished with the right set of action steps in front
of you.

Today, I'm going to give you such a system for building
your Internet business.  There are only 4 steps...

1. Decide What You Want To Do.  Do you want to run an
eBay(R) business?  Be an affiliate marketer? Buy and sell
reprint rights?  Get involved in niche marketing? While
all of those things will likely find their way into your
plan in time, you gotta begin with one thing at a time.

My recommendation:  Choose a "broad" topic you are
interested in and begin building a list of folks interested
in that topic.

2. Determine A Weekly Action Plan.  After you decide what
you want to do, it's time to determine how to get it done.
What I do is this:  I create a weekly set of action steps.
That is,I have a set of things I do on Monday, on Tuesday
and so forth. Decide how many hours (as little as ONE) you
want to work each day and schedule yourself a reasonable
amount of things to get done in that time frame.  Repeat
this process week after week.

My recommendation:  Begin writing ezine articles to
promote your list ... and affiliate programs.  It's the
easiest way to get free traffic and build your list at the
same time.

3. Devote Yourself To Staying On Schedule.  The important
thing here is to stick to it.  The easiest way that I know
of to make certain you develop discipline in your schedule
is to NOT set unrealistic expectations.  Give yourself ample
time to do each day's action step - don't overschedule.
Look for progress along the way to celebrate.  Reward
yourself when you've reached a milestone.  And, remember,
you're GROWING a business.  Just like physical growth, it
takes time ... it WILL happen if you remain committed.

My recommendation:  Weave in simple activities related to
the following categories - List building (ezine articles),
product creation(conduct interviews or hire ghostwriters),
site development (making your site convert more visitors into
buyers)and education (continuing to learn new ways to grow
your business)

4. Develop Additional Shortcuts.  As you get better and
better at working with your lists, creating products and
tweaking your site, you'll want to continue to improve your
business with new ideas, strategies, tools and resources.
The key is simple:  never stop learning!

Visit forums.  Read articles.  Download reports.  Identify
sites and resources that CONTRIBUTE to your success in
educating you. You want faster results, bigger increases,
automated processes, and other ways to get more accomplished
and more profit, with less work involved.

Everything depends on your developing a plan and sticking to
it.

And that is the REAL secret to building a high-profit
Internet business!

FOCUS

My phrase for today is:  "I am able to focus and direct my energy and do those things I wish to do."

FOCUS - Follow One Course Until Successful

If you are an entrepreneur, you may find sometimes that focusing on one thing is difficult.  You are attracted to "shiny objects", i.e.  the next best thing on the market.  You buy into the hype and you leave your project half done and wonder why you aren't making any money.  (I speak from experience and if you talk to any of the "gurus" you will hear them say the same thing, that they spent thousands of dollars on different things before they focused on their money maker.)

I attended a session with Janet Legere of Prospect Geyser yesterday and she talked about building and using safelists - effectively.  She talked about making sure you follow ALL the steps as you set up a program and finish ONE AT A TIME.  To get that one program/safelist completed before moving on to another.  I realized that I had failed to complete all the steps and today my focus is to completely fill in all the blanks with my Prospect Geyser membership.

Positive Attitude = Positive Results

How many times do you find yourself thinking negatively about yourself and the world aroung you?  Most of the time people tend to forget being positive.  They are so caught up in their work that they forget how important a positive attitude really is.  Sometimes they are suffering a great deal of stress which makes it difficult to think positively. At times like this it is important to create an attitude of gratitude to bring yourself back into a more positive state.

When you are in sales you start off with a positive attitude and much enthusiasm as you try to seel your product, whether door-to-door, or online.  However, after several contacts with no sales you begin to find it difficult to maintain your level of enthusiasm.   Being rejected after a door to door demo is really disheartening at times especially if you are trying to reach your quota for the day.  This tends to have an impact on your self-esteem and a feeling of ineptness may set in.

In order to avoid such a negative attitude one needs to be optimistic and confident.  Taking some time to think about the blessings you have in your life can help.  Can you walk to the door?  Be grateful.  Can you see where you are going?  Be grateful.  Can you breathe deeply?  Be grateful.  Do you have a place to live, a family to love you?  Be grateful.

Take some time to think about the product you are selling.  What is the benefit for the person you are selling it to?  Once you are confident of the benefits of your product, you will be more confident when you approach a potential customer.  Your confidence will boost your enthusiasm and increase your chances to increase sales.  Why you may ask?  It is because your client will feel your energy and recognize hat you have a high regard for the product you are selling.

When you can demonstrate that you are not just after their money, but are genuinely concerned that the product meets their needs, that the product can really provide the best service and make their life easier, then you are ready to begin.
When you meet with the potential customer, in person or online, ask them to give you a chance to explain in detail the service you are trying to provide, or maybe offer a sample to try.  You may have noticed that more and more online marketers are offering a free report, or a free trial of their service.  Consumers have become very wary of marketing techniques and it is important to show them that you are trustworthy and that you are genuinely concerned about their happiness.

Always smile when you sell a product door to door.  Sometimes a simple smile is all it takes for you to be acceptec by your prospect.  The sale of your product would be easier if clients see you as being good natured and well mannered.  When you emit a positive attitude you will find that it's contagious!

You don't have to be wearing "rose-coloured" glasses all the time, just stop and think about the things you have to be grateful for and be glad you have an opportunity to connect with a number of new (and old) people as you market your product.

To your success

Finding Your Niche

DO THE QUIZ

EVERYONE has something they're passionate about, and everyone is knowledgeable about something...
... it may just take a bit of digging to uncover it.

To get you started, here is a 20-question quiz you can use to zero in on your passions and interests, guaranteeing that you start your lucrative website off on the right foot.

We recommend you spend some "quiet time" reading carefully through the questions, and then allow yourself time to answer them thoroughly and truthfully. If you have time, give it a few days. By the end, we're willing to bet you'll have uncovered at least a couple of ideas to get you started on the road to Internet success. And remember: don't censor yourself! You're just brainstorming here, so there are no "dumb" answers... :-)

Here's the quiz:

1.  Do you play any sports? Which ones?

2.  If you had a million dollars and a week's worth of free time, what would you do? List the first activities that come to mind.

3.  What websites do you visit when you're just "surfing around" online? What topics do these sites cover?

4.  Have you ever won a trophy or award? What for?

5.  Have you ever been recognized for a contribution of services? What did you do?

6.  Do you have pets? What kinds? If yes, did you train them a certain way? Shows? Clothes? Hunting? Tricks?

7.  Do you have kids? What do you like best about being a parent? What do you find most challenging?

8.  Do you have any specialized education? Have you ever taken a class in a subject like pottery or sailing?

9.  Have you ever volunteered anywhere? What did you learn through this experience?

10.  What lifetime accomplishment are you most proud of? What did you learn from this experience?

11.  Do you have firsthand knowledge of any medical illnesses or issues? If so, which ones?

12.  Do you collect anything? If so, what?

13.  What television shows do you enjoy? What kind of music do you listen to? Do you ever attend theater events or other events related to the arts?

14.  Is there anything you've ever really wanted to do or learn about, but just haven't had the time for?

15.  At a party, when you're talking to a stranger, what's your "fall back" topic of conversation?

16.  At work or with friends, on what subject are you the "go-to" person?

17.  What is you academic background? Any degrees or certificates?

18.  What was your favorite job? What was your role?

19.  What would your best friend say you're best at?

20.  Have you done any renovations to your house yourself? Have you built or designed anything you're proud of?

And that's it! Simple, right?

After you go through the list, you'll likely find that your challenge will no longer be coming up with any interests, but rather to narrow your list of interests down to just a few!

Surviving Online

3 Things All Affiliate Marketers Need To Survive Online

Every affiliate marketer is always looking for the successful market that gives the biggest paycheck. Sometimes they think it is a magic formula that is readily available for them. Actually, it is more complicated than that. It is just good marketing practices that have been proven over years of hard work and dedication.
There are tactics that have worked before with online marketing and that continue to work in the online affiliate marketing world of today. With these three marketing tips, you will be able to able to increase your sales and survive in the affiliate marketing online.

What are these three tactics?

1. Using unique web pages to promote each separate product you are marketing. Do not lump all of it together just to save some money on web hosting. It is best to have a site focusing on each and every product and nothing more.

Always include product reviews on the website so visitors will have an initial understanding of what the product can do for those who buy them. Also include testimonials from users who have already tried the product. Be sure that these customers are more than willing to allow you to use their names and photos on the site of the specific product you are marketing.

You can also write articles highlighting the uses of the product and include them on the website as an additional page. Make the pages attractive, compelling and include calls to action on the information. Each headline should attract the readers to try and read more, even contact you. Highlight your special points. This will help your readers to learn what the page is about and make them want to find out more.

2. Offer free reports to your readers. If possible position them at the very top side of your page so they simply cannot be missed. Try to create autoresponder messages that will be mailed to those who input their personal information into your sign up box. According to research, a sale is closed usually on the seventh contact with a prospect.

Only two things can possibly happen with the web page alone: closed sale or the prospect leaving the page and never return again. By placing useful information into their inboxes at certain specified period, you will remind them of the product they thought they want later and will find out that the sale is closed. Be sure that the content is directed toward specific reasons to buy the product. Do not make it sound like a sales pitch.

Focus on important points like how your product can make life and things easier and more enjoyable. Include compelling subject lines in the email. As much as possible, avoid using the word “free” because there are still older spam filters that dump those kind of contents into the junk before even anyone reading them first. Convince those who signed up for your free reports that they will be missing something big if they do not avail themselves of your products and services.

3. Get the kind of traffic that is targeted to your product. Just think, if the person who visited your website has no interest whatsoever in what you are offering, they will be among those who move on and never come back. Write articles for publication in e-zines and e-reports. This way you can locate publications that are focusing on your target customers and what you have to offer might just grab their interest.

Try to write a minimum of 2 articles per week, with at least 300-600 words in length. By continuously writing and maintaining these articles you can generate as many as 100 targeted readers to your site in a day.

Always remember that only 1 out of 100 people are likely to buy your product or get your services. If you can generate as much as 1,000 targeted hits for your website in a day, that means you can make 10 sales based on the average statistic.  You must also remember that contacts do not often buy on the first contact and it may take 7-12 repeated contacts before they will make a purchase.

The tactics given above do not really sound very difficult to do, if you think about it. It simply requires a little time and an action plan on your part.

Try to use these tips for several affiliate marketing programs. You can end up maintaining a good source of income and surviving in this business which not all marketers can do.
